Alumni speaker: Laura Depledge
By: Paige Willhoite
On Thursday January 7th, North High graduate Laura Depledge talked to students about her job as an attorney. Began the talk by having everyone in the room stand up and put all our dreams in a "bubble" above our head. We had to reach for it like she had to reach for her goal to be a attorney.
She started to explain in college she had to work 2 jobs and because of that she missed out on family events. She became sick and it was hard to keep up with school and work. After a few months she recovered and kept her grades. When she started working in her first law firm, the firm lost clients and didnt get good business.
So, she decided to start her own firm. All her clients transferred from her old job to her new one. After everything she had to overcome, she said it was worth it now.
Her speech gave me more reasons to become a police officer because of all the good you can do for people.
