Philip Michael Lester (screen name: AmazingPhil) and Daniel James Howell (screen name: Danisnotonfire) are two best friends who met because of YouTube. They released a book in October of last year and are releasing tour dates soon.
Philip Michael Lester was born January 30, 1987. He is the youngest with one older brother, named Martyn. Phil made his YouTube channel on February 7, 2006 but first uploaded March 27, 2006. He made his channel when he won his camera in a cereal box (not joking). Daniel James Howell was born on June 11, 1991. He is the oldest and has one brother. Dan made his channel October 12, 2006 but didn’t start uploading until October 16, 2009. He decided to start uploading when he took a gap year, also his friends told him too also he wanted to for a while but never had the confidence.
Dan was a fan of Phil and started tweeting him, and then they started talking and became friends. They met in person for the first time on October 19, 2009. A couple days after meeting they made a video called “Phil is Not on Fire.” They answer questions on Phil’s channel but with a twist, they draw cat whiskers on their face. Since first uploaded on October 25, 2009, it has been a yearly occurrence, which is usually uploaded in November.
Dan went to The University of Manchester for a degree in Law but dropped out before second year. He officially dropped June 6, 2011 after having an existential crisis. Phil went to York University and studied English Language and Linguistics. He got a Master of Arts in Post-Production and Visual Effects the graduated.
In 2012 Dan and Phil moved from Manchester to London England. They moved when they were offered a weekly radio show on BBC Radio 1, also all their friends lived in England. When they started the Radio show they decided to stop making videos on “The Super Amazing Project”, new presenters would take their place. In 2014, they made a gaming channel together called “DanAndPhilGames” they decided to make it because they love gaming and their audience also wanted more videos of them together. For an April Fool’s Day joke in 2015, they made a channel called “DanAndPhilCRAFTS” where they made one vide. The video was how to make Squareflakes and they currently have 389,841 subscribers on this joke channel. This is where the phrase, “Don’t Cry, Craft” came from if you have ever hear it before this is where it’s from.
There are many theories/conspiracies about Dan and Phil, aka Phan. Many shippers of Phan (Shipping is when you want two people to be in a relationship) believe that Dan and Phil are dating and just have not told us. There is many valid theories i have read, but some are too complex to be real. Some think they got married in Japan, others have screenshots where they think Dan and Phil kissed after the edit. Some people are way too obsessed with the concept of Phan. Some make weird, graphic edits and/or drawings, fan fiction, anything you can think of, they make.
That is basically all there is to know about Dan and Phil. Oh, NEVER, EVER BRING UP THE 2012 VALENTINE’S DAY VIDEO!!! In case you did not know, they released a book October 8, 2015. If you want to know more about TABINOF (The Amazing Book Is Not On Fire) stay tuned next issue for a review.
