ohio Celtic Festival
By: Alex Golden
Earlier this month I had the privilege to go the Ohio Celtic Festival held at the Lake County Captains Stadium. The festival was from August 7th to August 9th and had acts until 11:30pm except for the last day, the last act ended at 8:30pm that day.
The Celtic region is: North-Western France, South-Western England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, and Mannin, All these ethnicities were incorporated in the festival. There was a wide variety of activities for all ages including: face painting, games, clown, food and drinks, henna, and many more.
There were many solo performers and also many group/family ones too. Two of the solo performers were Emmet Cahill and Emmett O Hanlon. Some of the family/group performers were: The Willis Clan (who also have a TLC show), Leahy and The Next Generation, Gothard Sisters, and many more. Sadly, I did not get to see a lot of these performers because I only went one day. But I did get to see: Emmet Cahill (twice), Emmett O Hanlon, Leahy and The Next Generation, Willis Clan (some of it), and there was some more which I heard but didn’t watch the whole show or get the name of. I also had the opportunity to meet Emmet Cahill not once but twice that day. Also I briefly met Emmett O Hanlon and I almost ran into Jedi or Jackson Willis while I was leaving the Raddison hotel.
Even though I was only there one day, it was amazing a few things. The food in my opinion was overpriced: a basket of fish and chips was eight tickets (eight dollars.) Also, when you wanted food you had to go to a booth and buy tickets, which were a dollar each. It was very inconvenient because there weren’t that many booths. But besides these little inconveniences it was an amazing weekend and I hope I can go again next year.
