Damn Daniel
By: Alex Golden
"Damn Daniel, back at it again with the white vans!" Unless you have been living under a rock, you would know exactly what this is. Damn Daniel, Daniel Lara, was recorded a whole week by his friend, Josh Holz. Holz is just saying "damn Daniel" during 6th period at Riverside Poly High. Daniel and Josh have appeared on Ellen and have article about them in the New York Times.
The problem is , Josh isn't getting as much credit or recognition as Daniel. On Ellen Daniel, 14, received a life time supply of vans while Josh, 15, only received a surf board. I guess neither can be ungrateful because they never thought this would happen.
There are pros and cons to this fad. Pros: They got a bunch of followers and if they want to: start a channel, goes on tour, or anything around that idea, they will have a fan base.
Cons: If you have the name Daniel, everyone is saying "damn Daniel" to you for about two weeks. Also he is getting a lot of hate because he became popular over a video. Also Daniel’s and Josh's twitters got hacked due to this.
Some people are calling him the new “Alex from Target” and some are just calling it stupid. Both Alex and Daniel became popular overnight. Both got popular mainly due to looks and not knowing what they sound or even act like. Both have been guests on Ellen DeGeneres’s show.
The next question is what he will do with this fame. Will they be invited to tours so people can meet the meme? We will find out soon enough. Some people think this is just a way to get Vans popular again. Vans has made no comment about this statement
So what do you think?
Is this a stupid meme, a thing that happens or a way to make vans popular again?
