After years of the drought, California may finally have the rains they’ve been waiting for. An El Niño happens every few years in December bringing unseasonably warm and nutrient poor water to the Pacific Ocean in the equatorial region but spreads elsewhere.
The El Niño can be destructive to the ecosystem of the ocean. However, this El Niño could prove helpful to the Californians. It is expected to bring big storms to Southern California and the San Francisco Bay Area. These storms will also bring flooding to the state; however, that is a small price to pay for the necessity of water that has proved so devastating in California and other countries in the world.
