El Chapo captured again
By: Sean Britton
The drug lord Joaquín Guzmán aka “El Chapo”, or “Shorty” has been captured again… on January 10th 2016 in the coastal city of Los Mochis in Sinaloa state in Mexico.
El Chapo is one of the biggest drug trafficking kingpins known in the history of the world. He is known for being a ruthless killer, he killed people just for being late on a drug deal, he was wanted for murder, international drug trafficking, escaping from prison… twice, possession of cocaine, heroin, and marijuana, bribing guards, money laundering, and possession of military grade weapons.
El Chapo has escaped prison two times prior to his recent arrest. The first escape on January 19th 2001 from Mexican high-security prison Puente Grande, near Guadalajara, Mexico. El Chapo bribed prison workers and guards to dismantle security cameras, and to give him a secure route outside the prison while being in a laundry cart. Allowing him to disappear for 13 years.
The second escape was on July 12th 2015 from Altiplano prison in Almoloya de Juarez, in a manmade tunnel in his “L” shaped cell. El Chapo paid over $50 million dollars in bribes and the construction of the tunnel.
After the third arrest of El Chapo some Mexican government officials want to send him to America because they don’t want to be embarrassed again by another prison break. Mexico has decided to keep El Chapo until his sentence is over, and then will be turned over to America to serve his sentence.
Will he escape again?
