Welcome to homecoming, where one second you’re “Hitting the Quan” and the next you’re slow dancing to Ed Sheeran.
This year was my first ever homecoming, and lets just say it was an interesting time. There were a lot of different types of people there: the ones in the front who were dancing, the ones who didn’t participate in dancing, the guys who looked like they came out of Magic Mike, the girls that left little to the imagination, and the ones who couldn’t keep their hands to themselves. I was the one in the front with the group of upper–classmen, having an amazing time enjoying myself.
When you first arrive you have to do a breathalyzer test before you can go into the commons. As far as I know, no one got removed from homecoming for not passing this test. After you pass that, you check in and receive a little magic lamp trinket. The commons wasn’t really decorated but the lights were off anyways, so no harm, no foul.
In the cafeteria there was punch (which ran out quickly), water, and cookies. There also were shoes from majority of the girls who took them off and put them on the tables. The cafeteria was the place a lot of people met up if they lost their friends because it was less crowded and had light.
Sadly, half the people I was with were seniors so I will not be able to be with them next year. Overall, homecoming was an interesting and a fun experience and I can’t wait till next year’s.
