Johnny Manziel has been having some trouble keeping his nose clean lately.
The question is: Are the Browns doing the right thing?
Manziel was just granted no punishment for a “domestic violence” situation with him and his girlfriend on November 17 by the NFL. The situation was shaky, and there wasn’t much evidence given so it couldn’t be proven, but regardless, the young quarterback was lucky to get off scotch free. From then on, Manziel should have made it a point to keep his nose clean (and for the most part, stay away from people who could drive him to drink). Head coach Mike Pettine even sat Johnny down and told him to “be a model citizen, especially after being named starter for the next six weeks.”.
Well, apparently, Manziel didn’t do a very good job listening to coach.
TMZ Sports released a video of Johnny Manziel dancing with a suspected bottle of champagne in his hand on November 20. Manziel did admit to going back home to Austin, Texas during his days off on the bye week, but never said a thing about partying at a night club. After an investigation was held, Manziel admitted to lying about the video being old. He also says he told his friends to cover up for him partying when he returned. He returned to Ohio Saturday morning, attending the Ohio State-Michigan State game in Columbus that night. Manziel claimed he never saw the videos wandering around the net.
“I haven’t seen it so I can’t speak on it… Videos can be old.”
And that was the lie that started it all. The young quarterback lost his starting position to veteran Josh McCown. Is that what needs to be done? How much is enough? How much more drama can Cleveland possibly take?
