NHS Marching band shows off
by: Meghan senik
On September 24th 2014, eleven marching bands from a variety of Ohio school districts joined up at Mentor High School to show off the sets they have been working on all summer. Our own North High School 2014 Ranger Marching Band joined in on the fun.
LCMEA Band Festival is not the only marching band festival that we participate in, but it is one of the biggest. Schools such as Riverside, Madison, Perry, Wickliffe, South, and many more came, also including Mentor High School’s performances which started and ended the show. All the bands played unique sets with fantastic songs and interesting moves. Things like putting down instruments and dancing and even standing on instruments were incorporated into the shows.
The order of which the marching bands went was determined by the amount of the members. The North High Marching Band went 4th, and they were the first marching band to pass 50 members. This was the order of all of the marching bands and the number of members in each band:
· Fairport Marching Band, Fairport Harding High School (45)
· Kirtland Hornets Marching Band, Kirtland High School (45)
· Wickliffe High School Blue Devil Swing Band, Wickliffe High School (49)
· Eastlake North High Ranger Marching Band, Eastlake North High School (53)
· Cougar Pride Marching Band, Lake Catholic High School (75)
· The Marching Rebels, Willoughby South High School (83)
· Pride of the Pirates, The Perry High School Marching Band, Perry High School (102)
· The Blue Streak Marching Band, Madison High School (107)
· The Harvey Red Raider Marching Band, Harvey High School (113)
· The Riverside Regiment, Riverside High School (210)
· The Fighting Cardinal Marching Band, Mentor High School (239)
The band performed the songs Take It Easy, Heartache Tonight, and Desperado, all by The Eagles. They will continue to perform for the rest of the football season, and finish their last performance of the school year on Thursday, October 30th.
