My top 5 christmas movies
By: Tyler Marcum
Christmas time is known as the happiest time of the year. When I think of Christmas, I think of the smell of crisp apple cider, and the smell of fresh hot cocoa. Snow everywhere, children sledding, dad is watching football, and mom is cooking supper. My favorite part of Christmas though, is not the presents or the food or even the activities, it’s watching movies together as a family.
Over the years I have seen more Christmas movies than you can count. Some have been good, and some aren’t in that category. So, I’m going to give you my top five Christmas movies of all time.
My fifth and last favorite movie is The Polar Express (2004). A young boy on Christmas eve goes to the North Pole on none other than the Polar Express, a fun and exciting train the serves you Hot Cocoa, has servers that dance, and of course takes you to go see the real Santa Clause. The boy and his friends all go through hard times and amazing times in this animated film. This movie is one I see every year, my sister and I watch it together.
The fourth best Christmas movie has to be, How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000). The Grinch is a mean, green “man” that lives in a mountain near Whoville, while everyone in Whoville is happy and joyful with Christmas near, Grinch tries to ruin everyone’s Christmas by stealing presents, stockings, and even the tree. This movie is one of my favorites because the first time I ever saw this was with my grandma, who means so much to me.
Number three on my list is, Home Alone (1990). Home Alone is about a young boy named Kevin who mistakenly gets left at home in New York City, while his family goes to Paris for a family vacation. Kevin is in love with being home alone, but trouble comes his way when he has to deal with two burglars. This movie is one of my favorites because of the funny nature of it.
The second best Christmas movie is, A Christmas Carol (1951). This movie is made off of the book, written by Charles Dickens. This movie is about a man named Scrooge, who is a very mean grumpy old man. Scrooge gets a visit from his old business partner’s ghost, Jacob Marley. He then gets a supernatural visit from Christmas past, Christmas present, and Christmas future. This movie is my second favorite because it always gets me thinking about what would happen to me if I was in Scrooge’s shoes.
My number one movie is Elf (2003). Will Farrell stars as a man who was raised by elves, his name is Buddy. Buddy takes a magical adventure to New York City to meet his real dad. Buddy meets a girl, his family, and many new friends on his trip. This movie I watch all the time, not only during Christmas time. I watch this with friends and family, and I even quote some of the lines.
