“What is a Quiz Bowl?” you ask. Quiz Bowl is a
team-based jeopardy style game where questions are asked covering a wide range
of things. North high officially has its very own Quiz Bowl team. It’s an all
year team although the competitions start in October until March. The team is
organized by Mr. Kilner who coached a successful team before coming to North.
“You don’t have to be a straight A student to join you just need to be able to learn new things” Mr. Kilner said when asked about what it takes to join the team. To prepare the team members have been working with Mr. Kilner over Skype going over flashcards since last school year so we think they’re ready to win this. They are preparing to play seven different tournaments.
The Quiz Bowl will be broadcast on channel 5, although the air date is unsure the taping is on October 18th. When it does air be sure to tune in! Mr. Kilner and the team are still accepting members so go to room 176 for more information.
“This team gives them a place to compete using their brains” Mr. Kilner commented on the fact that most students on this team don’t play a sport so this is there chance to compete. The team consists of 11th graders Jack Kindle, Ravi Patel, Alexa Ferwal, and Kyle Durbin. 10th graders Mason Gardner, and Marko Varga. Also the 9th graders Sophia Blantik, Lydia Blantik, Jason Turk, and Rachel Dempsey. So if you see these students in the hallway wish them luck!
