I get that losing to a team you should’ve beaten is tough, especially when they knock you out the playoffs, but some people are just ridiculous.
Ohio State’s perfect record was broken on November 21 by the Michigan State Spartans. The game was brutal, utterly brutal. It was a cold, dreary (let’s not forget snowy) day. The playing conditions were definitely not delectable and it also took a part in the loss. Actually, the play-calling may have led to the loss. Many were surprised at Urban Meyer’s different play-calling Saturday, as he can usually find a way to adapt the plays to the quarterback. Against Michigan State, he expected the quarterback to adapt to his plays. And that was not going to happen.
“I called a lot of the plays, so a finger will be pointed right there. And I have to do better. We didn’t – very conservative. Seemed like we were backed up a lot.” Urban Meyer tells sources after the game.
Although the Buckeye’s performed poorly against the Spartans, that doesn’t mean the fans should panic. After the game many fans lost hope already. And sadly, for Ohio State there is a slim to no chance at the college football playoffs now, but they still have to get through their rival No. 12 Michigan. Even if they still don’t make the playoffs from a win against Michigan, they still have bowl games to play. Not a lot of people seem to be considering that maybe Urban Meyer just had a bad day. A coach can’t be perfect, they have their flaws. As much as everyone wanted a perfect record, it didn’t happen and you simply cannot say Meyer is a bad coach from one loss. He made a mistake, and will hopefully do his best to change it against Michigan.
Hopefully, against Michigan.
