Remember how I said that it’s the team who’s hot at the moment who wins the game not the better team? Well, I was correct.
That’s right. The Eastlake North Rangers took down the Brush Arcs 60-49 in the sectional semifinals. Proving everybody wrong, the seniors really decided to show out that Wednesday night. Travis Picquet led the team with 18 points, followed by Chris Province with 14. Brandon Robinson also assisted the team with 12 points. It was amazing for North, after going 5-17 on the season, coming out and playing some good, hard basketball. Get this, North lost to Brush during the season twice, once at home 63-65 and the other at Brush 68-51. But not this time, no way, this was the tournament now. Nothing was going to stop them now, nothing. After being shot down and criticized the whole season, they finally put their foots down. What a night.
“We all came together and ready to play this game.” Sophomore Brandon Barron comments on the spectacular night.
All it took was a little heart. After everything these poor boys have been through this basketball, it must’ve been so refreshing for them to come out and play a fair game and to win. Gosh, that’s all they’ve asked for all season. And finally, they get it when it counts. I told everyone, I saw the heart and the passion. It was there, I knew it was. Gosh, I’m so happy they can finally say they won a game that counts. But they can only celebrate the win for a few days now, as they advance in the tournament to the district semifinal to play their rival Willoughby South. Oh yes, Eastlake North vs. Willoughby South in the tournament should definitely be interesting. As Willoughby South finishes No. 4 ranked in the bracket right now, North can still pull out a win. As I’ve said before, sometimes the talent on a team doesn’t matter. North has the potential to move past and I know they can do it. This is the real thing now, let’s go.
