Selfies are Banned!!
By: Miricle Blackman
In some countries Selfies are being banned due to injuries and inconvenience caused by people but this has yet to occur in the States. Selfies are pictures of a person which they have taken of themselves.
Iran is a conservative country; because of this they have banned women from taking Selfies with the soccer team. The team members, coaches, and anyone else associated are not allowed to pose with women who are not wearing the traditional clothing. The traditional clothing is the Islamic dress that covers the women fully except for face or eyes. The pictures are also banned due to risk of harassment or suing.
Selfie sticks cause interference with other devices? Who would have known that Selfie sticks could make devices malfunction? Because of this certain sticks are banned in Korea. Bluetooth signal from unlicensed sticks cause other devices to mess up. People who sell these unlicensed sticks risk a fine up to $30,000 or spend up to three years in jail.
Selfie sticks can be selfish, so Great Britain has banned them from arenas during concerts. During concerts it has been known to have your view blocked by signs but now that were in the era of #Selfie people’s view have been blocked by Selfie sticks. To resolve the problem the O2 Arena and Brixton Academy have made strict rules against them.
Some people would risk their lives to get a great Selfie; this is why Selfies are banned in Pamplona. Pamplona host an annual Running of the Bulls festival in which runners go thorough narrow streets as angry bulls charge beside them. In last year’s race a runner was fined $4,100 for trying to take photos with the animals while running.
These strict rules are starting to hit the states as well. Recently Walk Disney World banned selfie sticks in parks. New York has announced the banning of taking photos with animals like a lion, tiger, or other big cats, which will go into effect this month. As times goes on people begin to post closer pictures with animals. This measure was passed to protect wild animals and those who love them.
So keeping this in mind, next time you take a Selfie be considerate and kind. If you use a Selfie stick make sure it’s reliable, but most importantly - don’t forget to smile.
