When you hear the term “social media” what is the first thing that comes to mind? Social media is defined as: Websites and applications that enables users to create and share content or to participate in social networking.
There are many fans and critics of social networking. The downside of social networking is that it isn’t making you and smarter, in fact it may even be making you dumber. It supplies answers and insights without requiring any actual thinking, which is causing our brains to waste away like an unused muscle. A lot of people now-a-days don’t even know how to have a face-to-face conversation with real people. They are so worried about constantly checking their phones and talking to people online, that they forget to talk to the people around them. Many people cannot even hold a job because they are so obsessed with technology and checking their social media sights that they literally cannot even be without it long enough to motivate themselves. Also, many employers do not want to hire people that are so obsessed with technology because those people generally have little to no real people skills.
Now, if you’re one of these people, don’t panic. I am too. But that’s okay; there are many things you can do to prevent yourself from constantly checking your phone. Some of these things include:
• Drawing
• Writing
• Shopping
• Dancing
• Exercising
• Go outside
• Go on a walk
• Go out with friends
So, next time you have nothing to do, rather than simply picking up your phone to kill time, try one of these healthy alternatives.
