What’s polluting our social media feeds this holiday season? The answer is: a “controversy” related to Starbucks cups.
Each year Starbucks releases a festive cup to symbolize the holiday season. This year’s cup is a simplistic design, not specific to any holiday. This has stirred up a few interesting opinions. Some believe it is “a war on Christmas”.

And you would never guess who had something to say about the untraditional coffee cups. That’s right, it was Donald Trump. He marked this as the end of Merry Christmas at Starbucks. Joshua Feuerstein, a former pastor, said via twitter, "Starbucks removed Christmas from their cups because they hate Jesus". He claims that the world has become to open minded and this has led the words ‘Christ’ and ‘Christmas’ to be taken off their famous holiday cups.
However, Starbucks carries holiday blends, so chances are, the companies choice of blank cups has nothing to do with religion. Starbucks representatives have said that this was for its customers to draw their own stories. The holiday cups are usually accompanied by a story, but this year costumers are to write their own. Drawing on Starbucks cups is a normal thing done by many artists, and some have even been sold at the stores. The marketing choice was made to allow creativity from Starbucks drinkers.
