The 50 year anniversary

So the question is: Panthers or Broncos?
In week 16, the Panthers defeated the Arizona Cardinals 49-15. Quite a blowout you might say, as many thought it might be a good game. Cam newton was 19 for 28 passes for 335 yards including 2 touchdowns. On the other hand, the Broncos pulled out a spectacular win against the Pittsburgh Steelers defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers 23-16 in the AFC Divisional Playoff Round. Peyton Manning threw 21 for 37 for 222 yards. He did not account for any touchdowns however, the defense mostly won the game for the Broncos. So now the big faceoff: Peyton Manning or Cam Newton?
Paige: The Panthers have a better chance of winning the Super Bowl this year because of their defense. The Panthers have been the NFL’s best team all season. Panther’s record this year is 15-1 and Broncos record is 12-4. Panthers quarterback Cam Newton scored 35 touchdowns and 10 interceptions rating 99.4. Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has scored 9 touchdowns and had 17 interceptions but only rating 67.9. The panthers have shocked everyone with their record this year. The panthers are a second half team. The game against the Seattle Seahawks proved that they can still win with only 32 seconds left. Even with Cam Newton’s low scores the team still proved they could win. The team mates are even close with each other, even after 63 days without a win the team still stuck together and changed strategy. Although, even if the Panthers don't win they will still be better than the Browns.
Mollee: On the other hand, I think the Denver Broncos will take Super Bowl 50. First of all, as Peyton Manning is getting old, 39, and getting ready to retire many think he needs one more Super Bowl ring to show off, which he does deserve. With as fantastic as a career as he had, he deserves one more. Second, I think the Broncos will win because they have a good run and passing defense. Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware should definitely come up big for Denver as they have been on a roll these past few games. To be honest, the Broncos didn’t beat the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game on offense. The offense was okay, but the defense was phenomenal. Carolina likes to pass and with the good pass coverage that Denver has, the Panthers are going to have some trouble against them. Just because Peyton Manning has been hurt most of the season doesn’t mean that he can’t rally for a Super Bowl win, especially Super Bowl 50. Manning still has 9 touchdowns for the season, even coming off of injury. As I said in my other debate with Paige, sometimes the “underdog” so to speak wins the game. I think Carolina has dodged a bullet this season with not having to play the better teams. Pardon me, but they have had quite an easy schedule. And when your record is 15-1, it’s hard not to keep your head down, with a big head you tend to fall behind. But now the Broncos job in this Super Bowl is to prove to everyone that they deserve to be there. This is the one game they need to show up to play.
