North’s
varsity volleyball improved immensely during their season, showing powerful
teamwork, dedication, and persistent talent. The Lady Rangers encountered many
tough battles, but finished with 9 wins and 13 losses, with 5 wins and 7 losses
in the PAC. Next year, North volleyball will be introduced into the Western
Reserve Conference, dropping Geneva and Lakeside but adding Kenston, Mayfield,
and Brush. Coach Poje states that he believes the, “…future looks bright as the
team enters the new conference in 2015 with strong competition of Kenston and
Mayfield being added to a good PAC line-up of Riverside and South.” Although the
Lady Rangers lost to Riverside and South this year, it doesn’t mean that they
aren’t willing to continue endure a good fight for a solid win in the season to
come.
Next season will bring back 11 varsity letter winners, this year’s team with a majority of juniors. North volleyball consisted of only two seniors: outside hitter Mikayla Biscotti and libero Krysta Vogel, but they will be greatly missed next year in the summer. Krysta Vogel set the school record for her number of digs in a season, ending with 528 digs. Another record breaker was junior Alexis Miller, breaking the long standing record for total blocks in a season. The Rangers worked hard in every practice, and whether they won or lost, they learned and grew as a team. In the tournament, North crushed Cleveland Heights before ending their season in a defeat from Mentor. With a season full of effort, the Lady Rangers will head in the right direction while advancing their wins and coming back even
stronger.
