It may have been a win against a bad Chardon team, but it’s still a win.
On Friday, February 12, the Eastlake North Rangers defeated the Chardon Hilltoppers 62-42. Finally, after a 7 game losing streak, the Rangers decided to pull out a win. Too bad it may be too late in the season for a turnaround as the Rangers only have 3 more games to play until tournament season where everything counts. But, I wouldn’t count North out for tournament season. Even though the 5th win came late in the season, it looked so much different than everything else. Either it was the bad defense from Chardon’s side or North just came out to play, it looked magnificent. With this being a confidence booster, the Rangers could be a threat during the tournament. Besides, you always play better when under pressure, and the tournament is definitely pressure.
“We got them, they just weren’t that good.” Sophomore Brandon Barron comments.
Now 5-14 on the season, North has some chances to pick up at least 2 more wins this season. With Euclid at 6-13 and Brush at 11-9, they should be able to pull them out if they work hard enough. But, it’s going to take a lot of hard work and a lot of willpower. By no means will the rest of the season come easy, but with the way things have been looking lately the Rangers can definitely do it. This team has talent, there are just some kinks that need to be worked out, such as communication, ball movement, and setting picks. The accuracy of shots could use some work as well, but the point is, is this team has talent. It’s possibly for the Rangers to at least pick up a district title if they work hard enough.
And I believe they can do it.
